The 2019 National University Teaching Innovation Competition - Sub-division of 3D / VR / AR Digital Virtual Simulation, hosted by China Association of Higher Education, was held in Nanjing from November 1st to 3rd. “VR Practice Teaching Of Sewage Treatment Plant Of Environmental Engineering” by faculty members of our school Sun Xianbo, Ding Sijia and Cai Zhengqing won the second prize.
“VR Practice Teaching Of Sewage Treatment Plant Of Environmental Engineering”, a practice of applying virtual reality technology to environmental engineering teaching, turns the actual sewage plant into 1:1 virtual reality scene, where functions such as free tour, model pick-up and animation demonstration are available. In this way, students can get rid of the realistic constraints and learn in an all-round way, which makes up for the defects of limited learning depth, operation and repeated practice in the practice teaching of Environmental Engineering.
The sub division competition of 3D / VR / AR digital virtual simulation, oriented to serve the national industry development, is beneficial for improving the technological ability of digital virtual simulation engineering, innovating the talent training mode of traditional and experimental teaching, building a collaborative industry-academia-research-practice innovation platform, integrating the needs of industry into the teaching process, developing the innovative and practical ability of teachers and students, promoting the development of intelligent design education and manufacturing industry. The competition lasted for 8 months and went through three stages: project application, provincial evaluation and national final. Nearly 400 teams from 201 universities across the country signed up, and more than 150 teams were shortlisted for the national finals.
