November 1st to 3rd, The National College Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition Themed 3D/VR/AR Digital Virtual Simulation” was successfully held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The project “VR Practice Teaching in Sewage Treatment Plant for Environmental Engineering Students” proposed by our teachers Sun Xianbo, Ding Sijia and Cai Zhengqing won the second prize.
In this proposal, teachers combine the VR technology to present an immersive virtual reality scene the same as the real sewage factory, allowing students to visit the factory without restriction and learn from different perspectives. Such a teaching mode makes up for the current defects and improves students’ abilities in design, construction, regulation and maintenance.
This competition, in line with the national demand for education, greatly enhances the application of 3D/VR/AR digital engineering technology and updates the teaching mode. Keeping pace with the times, it not only improves innovation ability, engineering quality and teamwork spirit, but also plays an important role in intelligent design education and manufacturing industry. The competition lasted for 8 months with nearly 400 teams from 201 colleges and universities across the country. After application, provincial competition, about 150 teams were shortlisted for the national final.
